Morinda pubescens JE Smith is traditionally used for treating metabolic and inflammatory disorders, yet its anti-obesity potential remains poorly explored. This short communication evaluates the ethanolic bark extract of Morinda pubescens JE Smith through pancreatic lipase inhibition and molecular docking of its major anthraquinones. The extract showed a concentration-dependent inhibition of pancreatic lipase with significant activity at higher concentrations. In silico docking revealed strong affinity of rubiadin toward the catalytic triad residues of pancreatic lipase, supporting its role in enzyme inhibition. Overall, the findings indicate that Morinda pubescens JE Smith bark extract may serve as a promising natural inhibitor of dietary fat digestion.
