Ultradeformable vesicles, such as transferosomes, are advanced edge activated carriers that overcome permeability barriers. This study aimed to enhance the antifungal activity of Econazole Nitrate by developing ultradeformable vesicle (transferosomes) with various edge activators to improve drug release and permeability. Formulated via Thin Film hydration method with econazole nitrate, soya lecithin, tween 80, sodium deoxycholate, span 60, the optimized transferosomes had a entrapment efficiency 85.89 % of sodium deoxycholate based batch, a particle size of 63.8 nm, a zeta potential of - 31 mV, Polydispersity index of 0.233. Incorporated into a gel, Carbopol 934, Transcutol P were added, they achieved an In Vitro drug release of 89.11 %. Comparative analysis revealed superior antifungal efficacy of transferosomal gel against Candida albicans compared to standard and plain econazole nitrate gel. Thus, econazole nitrate transferosomes in 1 % carbopol gel showed enhanced drug release, improved fungal cell wall penetration, exhibit therapeutic antifungal effect.
